Nelloise Blue OBITUARY

Nelloise Blue OBITUARY

Nelloise Blue (Bagby) was born in Wichita, KS, to Charles Arthur Bagby and Nellie Blye Maginnis. After attending North High School, Nell worked for Stearman Aircraft Corporation in Wichita, spent a year living in Denver working for Continental Oil, then The Boeing Company upon her return to Wichita, where she worked alongside her future husband, Gene Blue. They married on September 23, 1950, and together they raised 3 children – Steven, Jenell, and Matthew.

The family relocated to Tuscon, Arizona in 1957 (Hughes Aircraft) followed by a second relocation to Downey, California in 1962 where her husband worked as Vice President of Pricing & Contracts for North American Aviation, Apollo Program. Her years in California were spent working for the CDI Corporation in Reseda, CA, and avidly supporting the Downey Children’s Theatre and the Downey Museum of Art. Nell loved traveling and spent time traveling extensively to Western and Eastern Europe. Following Gene’s death in 1990 and the Northridge earthquake in 1994, Nell moved to Orange County and eventually settled in San Juan Capistrano. She spent her retirement years as an active member of the San Juan Capistrano Woman’s Club, the Community Presbyterian Church of SJC, the San Clemente Island Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the 96th Bomb Group Association, and was a keen bridge and bunco player.

Nell passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, just shy of her 102nd birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, son, Steven, and sister, Glendene. She is survived by a sister, Aileen, daughter, Jenell, son, Matthew, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to World Central Kitchen (wck.org). A private family service and burial will be held on October 10th at El Toro Memorial Cemetery. The photo is of Nell dining at Antoine’s New Orleans.
