Jackie (Jack) G. Rawlings, Sr OBITUARY

Jack left this wonderful life on Friday, June 20, 2025, after three years of battling lung cancer. His life began on February 16, 1936, on Armstrong Street, where he was born at home in Kaiser, West Virginia. His family moved to Cumberland, Maryland, when Jack was four years old. He attended Fort Hill High School and graduated in 1954. His years at Fort Hill were enjoyable and memorable. He often spoke of all his school friends from Cumberland.

Jack was preceded in death by his Mother, Willard Lucy, his Father, Moss Sprinkler, and his brothers, Roy Rawlings, Wayne Rawlings, Donald (Ed) Rawlings, and George (Ike) Rawlings.

Jack enlisted in the United States Navy in 1954 and served until 1958. He was deployed on the USS Randolph, an Essex-class aircraft carrier. Jack was a loyal sailor who loved the USA.

Jack was an Assistant Postmaster for the Buena Park, CA Post Office for 25 years and retired after 35 years of service.

Jack married Rosalind Rosell on June 20, 1982. Yes, the day Jack was called home to God, June 20, 2025, was their 43rd Wedding Anniversary. What a blessing to have had all of those years with the person you love and cherish. Jack’s two children Jackie G. Rawlings Jr. (Butch) and his daughter Mitzi Rawlings Colasant and their children welcomed Roz to the Rawlings family.

Jack had three Grandchildren: Taylor Colasont, Ryan Rawlings, Jonathan Rawlings, 6 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.

A Memorial Service honoring Jack will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm. The service will be held at Heritage-Dilday Funeral Home, 17911 Beach Blvd. Huntington Beach, CA 92647. You are cordially invited to be a part of this special time celebrating Jack!
