Joan Charlene Bartoletti (née Hoffman) passed away on April 7, 2025, at the age of 79 after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.

Known affectionately as Miss Joan and Nonnie, she was a vibrant, loving spirit whose strength inspired all who knew her. Joan faced numerous health challenges with grace and determination, never allowing them to dim her passion for life or dance.

For over 40 years, Joan dedicated herself to teaching and nurturing young dancers. Beginning her career with Central Park Dancers in 1985, she later founded Dance FX Sunrise in Florida, creating a joyful, welcoming community that felt like home to generations. Miss Joan didn’t just teach dance–she taught resilience, discipline, and joy.

Her studio was a sanctuary of growth and love. As her mentor Joe Tremaine said, “Dance training is life training”–a belief she embodied daily. Her legacy lives on in her students and family, especially her daughter Julie, who will carry on her mission.

Joan is survived by her husband Ron, sister Sharon, daughters Lisa and Julie, grandchildren AJ, Tori, and Mia, and the many dancers she inspired.
