Lorrie Bennett Collins OBITUARY

Lorrie Bennett Collins OBITUARY

Loretta Collins, lovingly known as Lorrie, passed away peacefully in Huntington Beach, California, on June 17, 2025, at the age of 94, after a life filled with love, laughter, and music.

Born on January 21, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, Lorrie moved to California in the 1940s, where she would later meet the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Bennett. They married in 1950 and started life together in Burbank, CA. Bob and Lorrie had 4 children, and shared 40 wonderful years together until Bob’s passing in 1990. She later remarried Jim Collins of Huntington Beach, who passed away in 2024.

Lorrie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her vibrant spirit touched everyone she met. She was a singer, dancer, and artist. She also loved to sew. Her creativity, humor, and passion for life made her a joy to be around. Lorrie was proud of her Irish roots; always upbeat and occasionally mischievous, she had a magnetic presence that lifted the spirits of those around her.

In 1993, she was 1st runner up in the Ms. Senior America of California pageant. Her love for performing continued well into her later years. She began singing with the Singing Goodtimers of Huntington Beach in 2007 and spent many years dancing with the Orange County senior dance troupe, the Happy Hoofers.

Lorrie is lovingly survived by her children – Mike, Gary and his wife Carmen, Brian, and Leanna – along with her eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her sister Colleen, and a wide circle of extended family and lifelong friends whom she deeply cherished. While no formal services will be held, we invite you to honor Lorrie’s memory by raising a glass, sharing a laugh, and celebrating the beautiful life she lived and the peaceful journey she has now begun.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.”
