The annual walk to benefit Alzheimer’s Orange County is coming up on March 15.

Walk4ALZ will be held at Anaheim Stadium with people of all ages coming together to raise funds and awareness for those affected by Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia.

Mystery writers to talk shop

The Anaheim Public Library Foundation is presenting its 28th annual Mystery Authors Luncheon on May 6.

Guest authors Gary Phillips, Adam Sikes and Terry Shames will be featured guest authors at the luncheon fundraiser to be held at the Sheraton Park Hotel beginning at 11 a.m.

Nominations are open for Anaheim Beautiful’s March awards recognizing efforts for the beautification of property in town. These properties have taken extra steps to make their property beautiful.

Community yard sale downtown

Downtown Anaheim residents are encouraged to schedule their yard sale with the entire neighborhood on March 1.

Yard sales may be open from 7 a.m. to noon. Meghan Shigo is promoting the yard sale and creating a map to share with interested shoppers.

The map will be distributed, with coffee and donuts, starting at 7 a.m. on March 1 at the office of Shigo, 351 E. Center St.

Americana Awards mark 50 years of honors

The 50th anniversary Americana Awards of Cypress College will be hosted on March 15.

The event will honor the outstanding citizens in the Cypress College communities.  Anaheim honoree is Bharat Patel owner and operator of Anaheim’s Castle Inn & Suites.

Teens can visit Anaheim’s Sister City in Japan

Here is an opportunity for students to learn, explore and serve with the Anaheim Sister City student exchange program.

An exchange trip with Sister City Mito, Japan, is open to current Anaheim freshmen, sophomores and juniors interested in continuing the relationship that dates back to 1984. Applications are being accepted until Feb. 28 for the summertime trip.

Annual Children’s Festival is in the planning

The Anaheim Children’s Festival will be celebrating 34 years this spring.

Everyone is invited to this free event and Anaheim and Orange County organizations are encouraged to have a booth at the May 17 festival to be held at Pearson Park.

Nonprofit and for-profit groups are encouraged to join the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center in bringing the arts to our Anaheim and Orange County families. Easy sign up is available on the  muzeo.org website. Entertainers are also encouraged to sign up and join the fun onstage.
