On July 26-27, the Vans Warped Tour will take over Long Beach’s Shoreline Waterfront, bringing back its classic fusion of punk, hardcore, emo, and alt-rock energy for a two-day blowout. The 2025 edition, celebrating Warped’s 30th anniversary, is one of three limited dates across the U.S., joining events in Washington, D.C., and Orlando, Florida. Long Beach will host the largest crowd of them all, with an expected 80,000 fans.

For Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, bringing the event back to Southern California was more than symbolic — it was a full-circle moment. “OC was always this place for action sports and music,” Lyman once said, reflecting on the festival’s early roots in “Tearing Down the Orange Curtain,” a book by Daniel Kohn and Nate Jackson, chronicling the region’s punk rock legacy.

In March 1995, Lyman envisioned Warped as a hybrid of punk shows, skate culture, and surf community — a portable carnival of chaos where bands like Sublime, No Doubt, and Quicksand played alongside skateboarders flying off half-pipes and bikers jumping across ramps.

Warped Tour became the launching pad for countless Orange County artists and a rite of passage for young fans discovering music beyond the mainstream. Its early years were raw, rowdy, and often unpredictable — like the time Sublime’s notorious Dalmatian, Lou Dog, bit one too many skaters on the tour bus and got temporarily banned, as noted in the book “Tearing Down the Orange Curtain.”  But that messy authenticity was exactly what made Warped so beloved.

Now, three decades later, Sublime returns to the Warped Tour stage — not just as a headliner, but as a cornerstone of its legacy. Hailing from Long Beach, the band played a pivotal role in defining the tour’s earliest sound and attitude. Their raw sets in the ‘90s helped set the tone for what Warped would become, fusing punk, reggae, and skate culture into something entirely their own. Their 2025 set marks both a homecoming and a reminder of the chaos and creativity that started it all.

And with support from Insomniac Events, the Southern California-based mega team behind EDC and Nocturnal Wonderland, the tour is in full swing. Lyman’s vision remains intact: keep tickets affordable, bring the next generation out to shows, and return Warped to the millennial emo and alternative fans who made it matter.

Here’s what fans need to know before heading out to the two-day music festival.

1. The lineup is stacked with newcomers and nostalgia

Warped Tour is back with a vengeance, with the Long Beach edition lineup reading like a who’s who of scene legends and fresh faces. Headliners include 311, A Day to Remember, Atmosphere, Asking Alexandria, Black Veil Brides, Ice Nine Kills, The Interrupters, and Rise Against — and that’s just scratching the surface.

The poster also teases more surprises the week of the show, which leaves the door open for some potential jaw-dropping guests.

Fans of mid-2000s punk, emo, ska, metalcore, and pop-punk will feel right at home with acts like Bowling for Soup, Hawthorne Heights, Motion City Soundtrack, The Vandals, and The Aquabats alongside newer artists like Beauty School Dropout, Honey Revenge, and TX2.

Throw in nostalgic scene favorites like From First to Last, Cobra Starship, and Cartel, and you’ve got a truly multigenerational mix.

2. Don’t miss Warped Unplugged

Warped Unplugged offers fans a more intimate space to experience the heart of the festival. With stripped-down acoustic sets, immersive art installations, and a communal vibe, it taps into the early DIY spirit of Warped Tour. The area also features nonprofit booths, a mental health awareness zone, and a massive graffiti wall where fans can leave messages, memories, or just tag their name. It’s where music meets meaning — and a chance to connect on a deeper level.

3. Explore the Warped Tour Museum & Record Label Row

Celebrating 30 years of music, sweat, and scene history, the on-site Warped Tour Museum will feature archival photos, original flyers, video footage, and fan-submitted memorabilia. It’s a nostalgic deep dive into the bands, fans, and moments that helped define an entire generation of alternative music lovers. Just steps away, Record Label Row brings out the OG labels that helped launch many of Warped’s biggest acts. Stop by to score exclusive merch, check out surprise signings, and maybe catch your favorite band hanging by their booth.

4. Skate, BMX & High-Flying Demos All Weekend

Keeping true to its action sports roots, Warped Tour will host daily skateboarding and BMX demos featuring pro riders throwing down on half-pipes and custom ramps. Expect flips, tricks, and adrenaline-heavy showcases that channel the tour’s original energy. Whether you’re reliving the era of punk or catching it for the first time, this part of the festival brings the noise, even without the amps.

5. Snag your free Sticker Pack + Patch

In celebration, the festival is giving back to fans with a free sticker pack and commemorative patch, while supplies last. To claim yours, just download the Warped Tour app, fill out your info, and show your confirmation at the sticker pick-up booth on-site. More information can be found on their social media for the promo.

6. Info on bag policies, check-in, and times

Warped Tour box office and will call will be open from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. on show days, and doors will open at 11 a.m. Attendees should be prepared for thorough TSA-style security checks, including bag and pocket searches, pat-downs, and possibly shoe removal.

The festival has a strict no-re-entry policy for safety reasons. Only clear bags measuring no larger than 12″x6″x12″, one-gallon clear freezer bags, small clutches up to 6″x9″, and empty hydration packs with limited compartments are allowed; large non-clear backpacks or purses are not permitted.

The Favors announce debut Los Angeles show at Hollywood Forever Cemetery https://www.ocregister.com/2025/07/17/the-favors-announce-debut-los-angeles-show-at-hollywood-forever-cemetery/ Thu, 17 Jul 2025 16:46:40 +0000 https://www.ocregister.com/?p=11047880&preview=true&preview_id=11047880 Newly formed duo The Favors—comprised of FINNEAS and Ashe—will perform in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Hollywood Forever Cemetery as part of their first official series of live shows.

The performance marks the opening date on a brief tour that includes stops at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado and Central Park SummerStage in New York City.

The announcement follows the release of their newest single, “The Hudson,” a romantic, piano-driven track set to appear on their forthcoming debut album “The Dream,” which arrives Sept. 19 via Darkroom Records.

Tickets for the Hollywood Forever show go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, July 18 at wearethefavors.com.

FINNEAS and Ashe have a long-standing musical relationship, dating back to their 2019 breakout collaboration “Moral of the Story.” The Favors is their first official project as a band. Their previous single, “The Little Mess You Made,” introduced the project in June.

Though only a few dates have been announced so far, The Favors’ decision to launch the tour in Los Angeles—a city closely tied to their musical roots—adds a sense of homecoming to the performance. Hollywood Forever Cemetery, known for its intimate and historic setting, offers a unique backdrop for the band’s harmony-heavy, emotionally rich sound.

FINNEAS, best known as the Grammy-winning producer, co-writer, and creative partner of his sister Billie Eilish, has also built a solo career as a singer-songwriter and film composer. Ashe is a multi-platinum pop artist known for her emotive songwriting and vocal-driven singles like “Moral of the Story,” which gained mainstream traction after appearing in the Netflix film To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You.

They are also slated to appear at both weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival in October.

MANÁ is breaking a Los Angeles record with fifth Kia Forum show this fall https://www.ocregister.com/2025/07/16/mana-is-breaking-a-los-angeles-record-with-fifth-kia-forum-show-this-fall/ Wed, 16 Jul 2025 18:19:22 +0000 https://www.ocregister.com/?p=11046420&preview=true&preview_id=11046420 Mexican rock legends MANÁ have added a fifth and final Los Angeles date to their Vivir Sin Aire Tour, confirming a Nov. 29 performance at the Kia Forum.

With this additional show, the Guadalajara-formed band will make history, becoming the artist with the most arena concerts ever performed in Los Angeles — a total of 45 — surpassing Bruce Springsteen’s previous record of 42.

The Vivir Sin Aire Tour, produced by Live Nation, kicks off in early September and will make its way to more than 30 venues across the U.S. and Canada. In Southern California, MANÁ will headline five nights at the Kia Forum, Nov. 14-15, 21-22 and now 29, each show expected to deliver the kind of high-energy performances and anthemic sing-alongs that have defined their decades-long career. In addition to the Forum run, the band will stop in Fresno and San Jose.

Tickets for the newly added Nov. 29 show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18 at Ticketmaster.com.

MANÁ’s latest tour follows a summer run in Spain and recent recognition as the first Latin group nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Known for their blend of Latin classic rock and socially conscious lyrics, MANÁ has sold more than 45 million records and earned four Grammy Awards and nine Latin Grammys. Their 1992 record Dónde Jugarán los Niños remains the best-selling Latin rock album of all time.

Alongside their musical milestones, the band has long championed environmental causes through their Selva Negra Ecological Foundation. As part of the upcoming tour, a portion of the proceeds from their San Antonio dates will support local flood relief efforts.

Katy Perry soars at Honda Center, with Rebecca Black opening a new era https://www.ocregister.com/2025/07/14/katy-perry-soars-at-honda-center-with-rebecca-black-opening-a-new-era/ Mon, 14 Jul 2025 22:19:10 +0000 https://www.ocregister.com/?p=11042954&preview=true&preview_id=11042954 From a flying butterfly to a crowd-surfing shark and a chorus of fans voting via QR code to hear a ballad about heartbreak —welcome to Lifetimes, Katy Perry’s cosmic-coated tour de force that lit up Anaheim’s Honda Center on Sunday, July 13.

It marked her first tour in eight years and served as a true ode to the community that’s stuck with her since she first kissed a girl and liked it.

From the moment opener Rebecca Black took the stage, the night brimmed with symbolism, nostalgia, and queer joy. Black, who rose to viral infamy in 2011 with “Friday,” is now a proud queer pop artist who’s found both her voice and her audience.

Backed by two dancers and cheeky protest-style picket signs that read things like “Homo Sex is Life” and “Turn to Salvation,” Black delivered more than a performance — she delivered a reclamation. “Thank you for being so beautiful and gay, we love you!” she shouted as she exited the stage, flipping the narrative on a space that once mocked her.

The irony wasn’t lost on anyone that outside the venue, real protesters waved signs bearing extreme religious messages in opposition to the concert. Inside, however, Perry and Black created a world where joy, defiance, and sequins reigned supreme.

And it was a full-circle moment: over a decade ago, Black made a cameo in Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” music video — a pop culture nod that once seemed fleeting. Now, 14 years later, she’s opening Perry’s long-awaited return to touring, standing in her own spotlight.

Both artists also share local roots. Black hails from Irvine, and Perry, from Santa Barbara. Perry reminded fans of her early days performing on Main Street for free avocados. It was a night steeped in reflection and personal growth, underscoring the power of perseverance and transformation.

Even before Perry hit the stage, the energy inside Honda Center was electric, especially among her youngest fans. The venue buzzed with little girls in matching tutus, glittery Katy Perry tees, pink wigs, and Teenage Dream-era costumes. For many, it was their first concert ever. To them, Perry was a living cartoon, a hero who made being playful, weird, and expressive feel powerful.

After a montage of her most iconic videos and fan-captured memories played across towering screens, Perry emerged from the center of the stage in a space-age suit, flanked by robot dancers. The show itself felt like a video game: Perry had to collect three hearts — courage, knowledge, and freedom — before unlocking the final heart, strength. Campy and delightfully weird, the structure gave the show a fun touch.

“This is real. Forming a community, making friends,” Perry told the crowd. That spirit of connection pulsed throughout the night, whether she was dedicating a song to the LGBTQ+ community or inviting five fans onstage — including a young girl, a guy in a shark costume, two women dressed like extras from the “Last Friday Night” video who flew in from France, and someone in a taco suit.

Vocally strong and emotionally present, Perry also reminded everyone that she’s been through multiple eras and evolutions. At one point, fans scanned a QR code on screen to vote for a deep cut from her “Teenage Dream” album. “Not Like the Movies” won.

“Wow, you voted for the song I wrote about my first divorce — thanks guys,” she laughed. The ballad was performed as phone lights lit the arena like stars. Then she followed it up with “The One That Got Away,” just because she could.

From “Dark Horse” and “California Girls” to “Part of Me” and “E.T.,” the crowd sang every word. For “I Kissed a Girl,” Perry gave a nod to her Santa Barbara roots and the queer fans who’ve lifted her since the start. She spoke about motherhood, dedicating “Daisies” to her daughter Daisy, who was in the crowd, and later addressed moms in the audience directly: “If you’re ever feeling alone, just know there’s a visible string connecting us, we’re in this together.”

Recently, she’s been roasted on TikTok for her choreography and stage presence. But on this night, she silenced the noise with a performance that was polished, heartfelt, and completely her. Yes, she’s quirky, but isn’t that the point?

And then came the wings. She soared above the audience on a giant butterfly to sing “Roar,” before closing the show with a confetti-filled “Firework.” The visuals were larger than life, but the final message was as personal as ever:

“Thank you for showing up for me, Anaheim. I know this is real.”

Paul McCartney brings ‘Got Back’ tour to Acrisure Arena https://www.ocregister.com/2025/07/10/paul-mccartney-brings-got-back-tour-to-acrisure-arena/ Thu, 10 Jul 2025 18:09:21 +0000 https://www.ocregister.com/?p=11036361&preview=true&preview_id=11036361 If you’ve been waiting to “Get Back” to live music with a legend, Paul McCartney is answering the call—starting right here in Southern California.

The Beatles icon will kick off his 2025 Got Back tour on Sept. 29 at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert. It marks McCartney’s first performance in the Coachella Valley since his memorable Desert Trip appearance in 2016, and it’s the only California stop on the 16-date trek through the U.S. and Canada.

The tour wraps with back-to-back shows at Chicago’s United Center on Nov. 24 and 25. But before that, Southern California fans will get the first taste of what’s expected to be a career-spanning setlist—featuring Beatles staples like “Hey Jude” and “Let It Be,” as well as hits from Wings and McCartney’s solo catalog.

Tickets for the Acrisure Arena show go on artist presale at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15 at Ticketmaster.com. With general public sales beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18 at acrisurearena.com.

McCartney’s return to the road follows a trio of intimate warm-up shows at New York’s Bowery Ballroom earlier this year and a guest performance on SNL50: The Anniversary Special. He’s also been busy offstage—2024 saw the release of a 50th-anniversary reissue of Band on the Run and the long-sought live album One Hand Clapping. A new book, Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run, chronicling his post-Beatles adventures, is due out Nov. 4.

From Beatlemania to arena rock, McCartney’s musical journey continues and for fans in the desert, it starts right at home. With more than six decades of hits behind him, his Palm Desert performance promises to be a nostalgic and historic night for longtime listeners and first-time concertgoers alike.

Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme bring holiday drag to the Dolby https://www.ocregister.com/2025/07/09/jinkx-monsoon-and-bendelacreme-bring-holiday-drag-to-the-dolby/ Wed, 09 Jul 2025 22:35:50 +0000 https://www.ocregister.com/?p=11034558&preview=true&preview_id=11034558 The queens of Christmas are sleighing their way back to Southern California.

Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme will return this winter with a brand-new edition of The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show, a theatrical, camp-filled holiday tradition that’s become a staple for fans across North America.

This year’s tour includes three California stops: The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Dec. 14, the Balboa Theatre in San Diego on Dec. 18, and the Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco on Dec. 19. The production, directed and co-written by BenDeLaCreme with additional writing by Monsoon, continues the duo’s annual tradition of presenting an original show with comedy, choreography and plenty of holiday absurdity.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. July 11 at Ticketmaster.com. An artist presale will be available at 10 a.m. July 9 using code “HOHOHO” at jinkxanddela.com. VIP upgrades will be sold separately.

Jinkx Monsoon is a two-time winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, first crowned in Season 5 and later on All Stars Season 7, which featured a cast of previous champions. BenDeLaCreme, a fan-favorite from Season 6 and All Stars Season 3, became widely known for her high-concept looks, theatricality, and memorable self-elimination, which left a lasting mark on the show’s history.

Now in its seventh year, The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show has built a reputation for pushing beyond the typical seasonal fare. What began as a niche drag-theatre hybrid has since evolved into a large-scale production that continues to draw crowds in cities across the U.S. and Canada. Its loyal fan base ranges from longtime drag supporters to new audiences discovering the duo through their TV, Broadway and film work.

In a statement, BenDeLaCreme said the show remains a space for connection and healing, especially during an increasingly difficult time. “These rooms full of good faith and uproarious laughter continue to heal my heart,” she said. Monsoon added, “We go hard to combat the daily devastation with magic and mirth.”

Country Campout Weekend saddles up for inaugural run in Chino https://www.ocregister.com/2025/07/09/country-campout-weekend-saddles-up-for-inaugural-run-in-chino/ Wed, 09 Jul 2025 15:30:10 +0000 https://www.ocregister.com/?p=11032535&preview=true&preview_id=11032535 After a weather-related postponement last fall, Country Campout Weekend is officially making its long-awaited debut July 18-20 at Prado Regional Park in Chino.

And while the festival may be branded as its “second annual,” organizers and artists alike are calling this its true inaugural run—after last year’s cancellation turned into an extended buildup of anticipation.

The three-day outdoor experience promises boots, brews, bonfires, and a packed lineup of live country music, games, camping, and themed festivities.

For Franklin Wall, the married country duo hailing from Huntington Beach, the weekend marks a celebration of resilience, community, and music born from personal transformation.

“We’ve got 16 shows in July alone,” said Dan Franklin, who makes up half of the duo alongside partner Stephanie Wall. “And this one is definitely special. It’s close to home, and we love how much it brings people together.”

The two first met in 2012 performing in Disneyland’s Mad T Party band, a high-energy rock-and-roll show.

But it wasn’t until the COVID lockdowns—when both were navigating divorces and family hardships—that they began writing music together. “We found ourselves talking about everything we’d been through and realized, why haven’t we written music together?” Stephanie recalled. “That’s where Franklin Wall was born—from pain, but also from healing.”

Stephanie’s theater background—she performed on Broadway in “Frozen” in 2017—and Dan’s work as a producer and musician outside of country music gave them a wide creative foundation. Still, it was country songwriting that struck the deepest chord.

“Country music let us be vulnerable,” Dan said. “It was a way to tell our stories—and maybe help other people through theirs too.”

They started dating shortly after they began writing songs, building on a decade-long friendship that’s still at the core of their performances. “Our shows are rowdy and high-energy,” Stephanie said, laughing. “We were friends before we were in love, so there’s a lot of playfulness on stage. Dan’s jumping off the front of the stage with his guitar, I’m running around getting people to dance. It’s a blast.”

Country Campout Weekend is expected to offer just that kind of lively, down-to-earth vibe. With themed events like Rhinestone Rodeo Night, the debut of the Hops & Holler Craft Beer Fest, family-friendly games like mechanical bull riding and a Nerf Blaster Zone, and headlining performances by Sawyer Brown, Kylie Trout, Coffey Anderson, and Franklin Wall, the event is positioned as a one-of-a-kind summer experience.

The weekend also holds personal meaning for the duo, who opened for Coffey Anderson last year and are thrilled to be reuniting on the same lineup. “Coffey is just such a good guy, and his audience is always so open and fun. It’s like performing among friends,” Dan shared.

While Southern California may be miles from Tennessee, home to America’s country music capital, Franklin Wall says they’ve found a tight-knit, thriving scene right at home.

“There’s such a strong, beautiful country music community here,” Stephanie said. “From Redneck Rodeo to JT Harker, everyone’s so supportive. We don’t need to go to Nashville to find that, it’s right here.”

Family also keeps them rooted in Southern California. Stephanie helps care for her mother, who has Alzheimer’s, and her brother, who is paraplegic.

“We love it here,” she said. “This is home. And honestly, you can really build something from here.”

With upcoming original releases like “The Life You Thought You Had,” Franklin Wall continues to tell personal stories through their songs—songs that, at their core, reflect the exact spirit Country Campout Weekend hopes to ignite: connection, celebration, and the healing power of live music.

“Pain is useless unless you use it,” Stephanie said. “We’ve been through some hard things, but we’re turning it into something joyful. And that’s what we hope people feel when they see us on that stage.”
