The inaugural CIF State boys volleyball finals are at Fresno City College in Fresno.
Mater Dei (30-12-2) plays Clovis Buchanan (30-16) in the CIF State Division II final Friday at 5 p.m. Mater Dei won the CIF Southern California Regional Division II championship on Saturday with a 3-1 win over San Diego Francis Parker of San Diego. Buchanan beat Loomis Del Oro 3-1 in the CIF Northern California Regional Division II final.
Mater Dei has won seven consecutive matches. The Monarchs won the CIF Southern Section Division 2 championship.
Sage Hill (22-11) plays San Francisco International (27-7) in the CIF State Division III final on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Sage Hill defeated San Diego Clairmont 3-0 in the CIF SoCal Regional Division III championship match. International beat San Jose Branham in the CIF Northern California Regional Division III final.
Sage Hill takes a 12-match winning streak into its state final.
Also on Saturday, Manhattan Beach Mira Costa (36-2), which defeated Huntington Beach in CIF Southern Section and CIF SoCal Regional finals, plays San Jose Archbishop Mitty (40-2) in the CIF State Division I final at 4:30 p.m. Mira Costa is No. 1 in MaxPreps.com’s boys volleyball national rankings.
